Canarsie Honors 2026

“Don’t let nothing come between you and your creation.”  One of Shar’s sayings that stick with me.  He was intentional about everything he did, and that includes creating long-lasting relationships.  As we speak to members of the community, they light up when they speak about him.  The light is not just because he is someone famous that they know, but that he is someone with whom they had a bond.  He sowed into the people he knew, and also into the lives of those whom he met.  He gave of himself because he was familiar with the desire to accomplish something.  He often pushed his friends beyond their comfort zone, because he wanted to inspire them to work towards and manifest their dreams; shoot for the stars, aim for the moon.  It is in this spirit that we operate, as we gather to celebrate and give.
